Superman review

There were a lot of concerns going into this, Henry no longer being Superman hurt all of us, it’s the 4th time they’ve been trying to make a Superman franchise, they were adding a lot of characters to the movie and it was at risk of being overcrowded, but let me assure you all of those concerns were put to rest fast and in James Gunn we trust!

I didn’t think anyone would top Henry Cavill as Superman but David Corenswet topped him, we also got to see the best Lois Lane and the best Lex Luthor we’ve ever seen on screen.  The other characters were great additions especially Guy Gardner and Mr. Terrific who stole the show! It also showed a more vulnerable Superman who showed he could be defeated and was not fully unstoppable. The action sequences were awesome to watch, the pacing was well done and even people who aren’t DC fans or big fans of the franchise will certainly enjoy it. And let’s not forget the real hero of the movie, Krypto!

While I did say he is the best Lex Luthor, he was a lot more unhinged and in the front line of his schemes rather than the calm, collective and sinister one which I personally prefer. The only other thing was one of the other villain reveal twists was pretty predictable.

The DCU is off to a great start and I can’t wait to see where this leads to, I am thinking Marvel is going to really regret losing James Gunn.

I give this a 9/10.

Good:

  • The best Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor on screen
  • Rest of the characters especially Guy and Mr. Terrific
  • Krypto!
  • Visually beautiful
  • Music
  • Lighthearted for the most part
  • Fun and funny throughout

Bad:

  • I prefer a calm and collective Lex Luthor than unhinged
  • One villain twist was predictable
