We’re all pretty much sick of Disney’s “live action” remakes and they’ve been getting worse by the movie and I’ve stopped watching them. However, there have been some exceptions and this one is one of them! This one actually made you feel as if Stitch was real and is one of the few that’s almost equal to the animated movie itself.
Stitch was one of the best CGI characters I’ve ever seen in a movie, not only was the character portraying complex emotions well but the way it interacted with the environments and other characters made you feel Stitch was actually real. They focused a lot more on character chemistry and bonding especially with Lilo and Nani (Who were both perfectly casted) allowing for a lot more depth than the original movie had. It was also consistently funny from beginning to end and there were some near perfect recreations of scenes from the original movie.
There was a major character change which I have complex feelings about, while in the original movie he was morally questionable but good, this time around he turned out to be the main villain. Also the absence of Gantu just didn’t feel right.
This is in the top-tier if not the top of the remakes and I am hoping they do produce a sequel, because more of Stitch is a good thing.
I give this 9/10.
Good:
- All the characters were done great
- Stitch is one the of the best CGI characters ever
- Emotions were genuine
- Fun throughout
Bad:
- New villain character swap
- No Gantu
