Legend of Zelda movie conerns

After nearly 40 years it’s finally happening, the eventual and inevitable Legend of Zelda movie and I will certainly watch it, but I have some concerns about it especially since it won’t be animated like Mario was.  I love the franchise dearly and have played the majority of the series but this isn’t one that I think can translate to film so easily.

Legend of Zelda doesn’t have a big supporting cast as Mario does, for the most part, it’s a singular experience with only Link, sure Zelda and Ganon are there but their presence isn’t too prominent throughout.  Having a movie focused on one character will get stagnant fast, even with going through dungeons and fighting a lot of fantastical creatures.

Speaking of dungeons, how many will Link go through in the movie?  Will it be a formulaic experience where the whole movie Link is just going through dungeons and then battling Ganon at the end? That doesn’t sound too interesting.  Also, how many cities and towns is he going to go through and how significant will each visit be?

Doing it as a movie that is close to the source material could be a boring experience, so while I love the series, having a movie brings a lot of concerns to me.  The way I see a Legend of Zelda movie is that it needs to be a Lord of the Rings type of epic trilogy, each movie focusing on a different piece of the Triforce and then coming together at the end with an epic battle and a group of characters you love.

What does everyone think?  Is a Legend of Zelda film a good idea or do you have concerns, or do you think it’s a terrible idea?
