The Nitro Bro

When the initial reviews were concerning and I was convinced that if this wasn’t going to be good it was the death of the MCU.  While the original Captain America movies with Steve Rogers were arguably the best solo trilogy, having a new one with Sam seemed like a big risk, especially when the trailers showed way too much.  So let me tell you that the critics are fools and Sam made a great Captain America!

While Sam made a great Captain America it certainly felt like he was still Falcon with a Captain America-themed costume, which isn’t necessarily bad, especially since you see a Captain America, without the super soldier serum.  Harrison Ford was great as Thunderbolt Ross and honestly, I wish they had him in the role from the beginning, he was really trying to better himself.  The movie was an action-packed thrill ride from the start and the story stayed interesting the whole time.  Even beyond Sam and Ross all the other characters were great and provided good entertaining moments, while each contributing to the events in their own ways, especially the true villain of the story.  And while it is pretty much forgotten, this movie now made The Eternals relevant!

The story, while interesting, was almost a clone of The Winter Soldier and you see a lot of blatant references.  Also, the issue with the story was the trailer showed a lot of key moments which caused it to be predictable and ruined some of the suspense.  The other characters outside Sam and Ross were great, but mostly forgettable, including the main ones.  Another thing to add, if you haven’t watched Falcon and the Winter Soldier you may be lost on a few plot points.

Overall, it’s a thrill ride with an interesting story and characters.  It’s not by all means perfect and while it has a lot of throwbacks/references to The Winter Solider it does certainly stand out on its own, so ignore the critics and go watch it.
