When the trailer came for this movie, I was so enticed that I ignored messages from someone telling me to come give them their ticket to Kung Fu Panda 4. But I was wondering the whole time “Well what’s this about?”. It finally came out and for all the right reasons it was nothing I was expecting it to be! Let me tell you about this beautiful masterpiece and future classic!
So as mentioned above, I had no idea what this movie was going to be about which is a rare experience lately. It seemed like it was taking place in a dystopian future as no human characters were really in it so it was interesting to see how a robot would adapt to a world of just nature. The characters all had their unique charm and also each had their own personal growth story which was touching to see. The main character Roz was great throughout and the emotional evolution was paced nicely. Another rarity for a movie like this, I didn’t shy away from some darker more mature moments…did I also mention it’s beautiful!
Roz did go through a cliche which is seen a lot in movies with AI, where they go from an emotionless robot (Yes I see the irony) to a complicated sentient being with real emotions. The final act did drag about a bit, but I can let it slide a little since it did involve a lot of characters.
A beautiful, emotional, and unique movie that is a blast from the start. There is a lot more I would like to add in here but I do like to keep my reviews spoiler-free as much as possible. However, this is one you can’t miss.
This beautiful masterpiece gets a 9/10!
Good:
- Beautiful all around
- All the characters are great
- Story was mature enough
- Unique overall
Bad:
- Robot becoming humanised is nothing new
